I love to garage sale! Do You? Well, garage sale season has started here in my town and I usually go every Friday and some Saturday's. I seem to have such good luck in the early spring when the garage sale season starts and then in the early fall when they are winding down. In between it's hit-and-miss. Sometimes I have good luck and other times I just waste gas. But it's fun and I am addicted.
So I decided to do a weekly feature called Diamonds In The Rough! because that is what all the stuff I find is to me. I will then do projects with and out of the stuff I purchase and show the results to you. Doesn't that sound like fun? It does to me too!
This past Friday, the garage sales were unusually fantastic mainly because of one particular garage sale. It was so huge...like an estate sale. The person had sold their home and was into antiques, vintage and just plain stuff and lots of it! The crowd was huge and it was crazy. I even had a table stolen from my pile of purchases, luckily before I paid! Oh well, I was just going to paint it and sell it so no great loss.
Here is the sum of my bounty on Friday...
Old instant ancestors, a table that had great lines but needs a lot of love and a new top, lots of embroidery hoops for some wreaths I am making for the church that I will share with you later in the year. And off to the left, which you can barely see, but it's a glazing point tool and lots of glazing points for framing pictures. I have wanted one of these forever!
And a beautiful large white tureen, a tea pot that I will turn into a lamp (I think), an old book with a cool cover, a huge silver tray, a beautiful ornate gold frame (to be painted), and an antique shaving mirror set.
Also, a cream colored lamp base, cookie cutters with cute red handles, a picture holder and more Christian books for reading. Oh yeah, and a cool 25¢ birdhouse to paint!
When I saw this lamp, I first thought of MacKenzie Childs. I knew that I could paint it up with their inspiration, and then I saw the price of only 25¢, I knew it had to be mine. But for now the first project with this lamp is simple. I took an existing shade and put it on this lamp and put it in our bathroom. Doesn't it look great...for now! I always change things up over time.
Come back tomorrow to see another item I finished with of one of the things that I got... in Diamonds In The Rough!
