Tin Ceiling Shelf

If you have a good memory and have been following me for a while, you might remember when we returned from a Kansas visit. (My son lives in Kansas)

We always go antiquing along the way and picked a whole SUV load of goodies that we brought back.

Can you spy what is on top of the pile? Above all the cool pillar parts that is.

Yep, it's a cool piece of antique tin ceiling cove molding. I had a great plan for this but patiently waited for hubby or my young-and-cute-handy-dandy-handyman to make it into a shelf.

Well, I think hubby has just gotten used to telling me to call the handyman instead of him doing it! I don't mind, I enjoy having him around and he is like a son to me. He actually is two years younger than my own son. And we invite him to spend time with us when our son is here visiting, so they have gotten to know each other. My son always knows who I am talking about when I tell him that his "other brother" was here!

Mr. Young-and-Cute came over and threw together this shelf with scrap wood that I had in our new hobby garage.

Now it was left up to me to sand and paint this piece. Plus decide where to place it in my home.

First, you have got to understand that I don't keep most 'stuff' a long time. I use it, enjoy it then move on to other things. So I looked around the house and found the place that I wanted it. Yes, I am now selling this faux fireplace at my mall booth. Out with the old and in with the different old!

I know, you are probably saying, "Whoa Nelly, why would you get rid of this cool setup?" Well, hubby and I made this and we had our fun with it...now we are ready to let it go. I don't get attached to very much. This way, more 'stuff' comes easily my way! No kidding!

I love how open this area looks now. After all, it is a hallway. And I topped the shelf with fun lovelies...

I purchased a Santos Doll a few years ago and then found these wings at Decor Steals. When they arrived, the size was perfect with the size of this Santos Doll, so I just used Command Stick Up Velcro to attach the wings to the doll. Easy and removable if I choose.

I'm just having my fun now with this cool shelf.

Hobby Lobby carries these shelves, but I wanted one that I could control the length and know that it was a true antique tin cove molding and not a reproduction. I finally got another one of my dreams!
