Framed Book Page Tutorial

I decided that I would treat you to a tutorial on how I make my framed book pages. Are you wanting to learn how I do it? Here we go...

Choose a frame and get a piece of foam core or cardboard.

Pencil a line from the inside of frame onto the foam core. Make sure you put your pencil inside the area of the frame inset. Use a razor blade or knife to cut out the shape. Trial fit the foam core and make sure it fits the frame. Trim until it fits snugly.

Choose book pages. Here I chose a German Hymnal. I love the patia. I then use scrapbooking tape and tape across the top (back) of the page and lay each sheet, slightly overlapping. Work from the bottom, across, then next row until you reach the top.

It should look like this with all the pages overlapping and larger than the foam core.

Flip over the foam core and trim the pages to the edge of your foam core with a scissors.

When you flip it back over it should look like this. Then lay the frame over the foam core and make sure the pages on the edge are tucked in correctly. Secure the foam core on the back of the frame so the foam core won't fall out.

This is what it looks like if you just leave it blank. But I wanted something more.

This is the way I had it before I did the book pages and I was going to put the plate back in the middle...but, I wanted something that was a bit more unpredictable.

I had gotten this little frame at a garage sale this summer. I threw away the picture and kept the backing and frame. So...

I had painted the frame blue and hung it on the wall.

I painted the backing with chalkboard paint. This is in our blue guest bedroom so I wrote, "Sleep Well" on the board with chalk. I then figured out where I wanted the chalkboard frame to fit within the large framed book pages and drove a nail through the pages, foam core right into the wall. I then hung the chalkboard frame on the nail.

Notice the soft blue ceiling. I have blue bedding and blue accents like this frame in areas around the room.

Go ahead and try it yourself. It's easy, fast and fun.
