Inlaid Table ~ Deja-vu

I just experienced Deja-vu, but this was REAL not an illusion of feeling. I am talking about two tables that have come into my life with-in a month of each other but miles apart. Here is my first one...

I am sure my blog followers remember this one. See the before shot? Notice the top and how the inlay was so far gone that it couldn't be saved? You also see my solution for its rebirth.

Well, little did I know that 180 miles away was an identical table, that I would cross paths with and purchase.

This one however, was in better condition. So I took a different route with its rebirth. First, I stripped the top to reveal the beautiful inlaid design.

See the beautiful twin design of the inlaid veneer of various woods? Here, take a closer look...

Yes, each one of those little check looking pieces is a seperate piece of wood. Since I had recently finished a dresser with a dark stained top and a white painted base, and loved it, I decided to do the same process with this table. I used my Annie Sloan Old White Chalk Paint purchased online at Robin Story Designs. And after a bit of distressing, waxing and buffing...

Here's the final piece and as you can see, Hubby fell in love with it and wanted to keep it. Once again the table dance begins...take this table from here and put it there and so on. We have twin leather club chairs in our living room that are actually recliners made by Natuzzi...talk about ultra comfort, but I digress. So with our walnut hardwood floors, this table really compliments the space. It is a good height, fairly even with the arms of the chair for ease of reaching for a drink or the remote.

Hint - Another design secret of mine. If you turn off the color on a picture and still see textures and varied patterns, you are off to a great design full of interest. Check it out!

Not even boring in black and white! The check pillows that I made and especially the piping play off the checks in the inlaid table. The inlaid wood used in this table also play off of the floor beautifully. And lastly when the color is turned on, (look up a picture) the color of the wall, drapes and area rug tie in with the same muted color tone. In this case, the leather on the chairs is my neutral even though they are dark brown. Okay, enough with design 101.

There you have it, my experience with REAL Deja-vu!
