Have you ever noticed all the ANTLERS in room decor these days? There is a wonderful website with a wealth of beautiful homes called, houzz.com, and you can search photos with anything you are looking for. Since I have seen tons of antlers in room decorating, I decided to do a search and see the UNexpected and expected. See if you can find the antlers.

I think you get the idea with just these few photos from Houzz.com.
I am accustomed to antlers and have grown to like them in small amounts. In my past life, (with 1st hubby) we had a real working farm/ranch and he is an avid hunter. We had deer heads all over the walls in the great room. Now my grown son is an avid hunter, so it's in the blood with him.
In my present life, not so much. However, I still am drawn to the earthiness of something natural in my home, even if in not quite a natural state.
My point is (no pun intended), and at a complete shock to hubby #2, I purchased a nice 8 point rack on a recent outing.
Then I started the process of covering the skull with a nice soft leather scrap, a discontinued sample from a furniture store. After too many frustrating hours and some creative leather braiding,
I got to my end result!
When hubby came home from work, I proudly showed him our new "piece of nature" in our living room.
Needless to say, he wasn't too pleased (He's an accountant) since he said that he had thought I was buying the antlers for my son. Now, I ask you, why would I buy antlers for someone that has so many from all the years of deer hunting?
Sweet hubby bit his tongue and so far, is allowing them to stay right where I think they are perfect!

Now here is something you don't know about me...

However, I also noticed that since hanging the antlers and putting the mounting board on the diagonal, you will notice on the connecting wall art, there are also the old framed tin ceiling piece and the two sconces that I made on the diagonal! Hmmm!
NOTE: It has been a couple of days since the antlers were hung and gladly hubby is saying that they are growing on him and likes them after all! I knew he would come around.
