My Master BathRoom Update!

Some of my reader's may remember my long ago post on my master bathroom.

About six years ago, when I first met my Young-and-Cute, Handy-Dandy-Handyman Trent, together we gutted my carpeted, huge garden tub and single sink master bathroom for a more functional and timeless style that it is today.

However, we didn't do one thing...

Let's start from the beginning, shall we?

Our master bathroom consists of two rooms. The first room has the sinks and tub and this is what it looks like today after the remodel...

Mr. Young-And-Cute (is not my hubby. He is a young man that I met after he returned from 6 years in the Army and a tour in Iraq. He is currently 30 and has become like family to my hubby and myself since he has allowed me to assist him in redoing most of our home to date) and I spent three weeks gutting and redoing the sink and tub room. We...

*Install a pocket door between the sink/tub room and the toilet/shower room, vs. a standard door that always was in the way.

*Tiled the floor that was carpet. Though I could not find the matching tile that was already in the toilet/shower room, the builder had left a few extra tiles. I used these as a center point with the new coordinating marble tile around the perimeter.

*Installed a new higher toilet.

*Installed bead board on the walls.

*Installed two pedestal sinks.

*Installed a slipper claw-foot tub.

*Installed a ceiling fan for hubby.

*Installed a chandelier on a dimmer for me.

*Installed cabinetry for storage.

*Installed new swivel mirrors and lighting.

*Painted the walls and ceiling.

Basically, we remodeled everything but this!

This is in the second room. The toilet/shower room. It already had marble tile flooring and a nice built-in above the toilet...But the shower was just okay. It was a 3 foot by 4 foot one piece molded fiberglass shower. The only thing we did do was take out the brass door and install a new door.

That was until a month ago!!!

Now for the exciting part...at least it is to me. We had our too small and not nice enough shower ripped out...

Good-Bye old shower...you will not be missed!

We had a new shower installed. They cut out the tile floor a foot bigger into the room (thankfully we had the space) to allow for a 4 by 4 foot shower.

*Installed a center light within the shower.

*Installed a 4 x 4 white Onyx low-profile shower base (floor).

*Tiled in white subway tile (including the ceiling) along with accent tiles of green and white glass tile and the marble tile that matches the new marble in the sink/tub room. Edged the shower with tiled chair rail.

*Added two wall niches for accommodating shower supplies.

*Installed Onyx glass shower door that swings both ways.

Since I would be repainting this room, and by enlarging the shower, they had to truncate my painted tree mural...

I said good-bye to the tree mural and in place of it I made a new towel rack. Here is what I did.

I took a foot board from a bed that was left in our rental house by a previous tenant...

And Hubby cut off the legs. I flipped it around so the top became the bottom and the bottom became the top.

I added two finials where the legs were cut off. I painted it and where the center accent board is, I added the vinyl word, "Towels" using my handy Silhouette Cutting Machine.

I also added four hooks. Here is the outcome of this piece.

We absolutely love our new shower and I think it fits right into the space and style we made these rooms to be, Don't you think?
